Playtimes baby and toddler sensory classes aim for a relaxing, easy going social atmosphere.

Sensory classes for babies and toddlers are designed to help your young baby’s social and physical skills, before they go to pre-school. Baby play classes will help your little one meet other children but also begin to understand the world around them; they are also a great opportunity for you to meet other parents in your area.

How old does my child need to be to attend a baby sensory class?

The best bit about these sensory classes is that your little one can attend from birth! In a formal class setting your baby will be placed into an age specific class that’ll take into consideration their stage of development. However, if you’re attending a class as a one-off you may find a wide range in the ages of the babies there.

What happens at a sensory class with your baby?

These classes do what they say on the tin; they work to engage your young baby’s senses through a vast range of different activities. The welcome hello song at the beginning of the class to signify the start, before the leader of the sensory class begins the sensory play sessions. You’ll also notice there will be a lot of prop and equipment used throughout – including; bubbles, lights and even sounds. Massage, makaton signing and  is also utilised throughout the session.

Playtimes sensory classes do follow a structured plan, which will focus on key developments and milestones for your baby to achieve. Time is also allowed at the end of the class for your little one to do a bit of sensory exploring on their own in a safe play area.

Do sensory classes for babies work? What are the benefits of sensory classes for babies and toddlers?

Throughout the classes your little one will develop a self-awareness and awareness of others around them. Meanwhile, your baby’s physical skills will also develop, especially their co-ordination as they are introduced to tummy time, physical touch and active movement. In addition, your baby’s communication skills are worked on through singing and nursery rhymes.

What is the cost of baby sensory classes?

The cost of these classes is 10.55 per session, and can be booked in blocks of consecutive sessions or a trial class subject to availability for those.

What can I expect during a Playtimes sensory class?

During a Playtimes sensory class for babies and toddlers you can expect purposeful play activities, music and movement, colourful lights, bubbles, dressing up, fun props, imaginative play, puppets, parachute activities, eye tracking and co ordination skills activities and speaking and listening development techniques.

Plus a ‘selfie corner’ for you take your own photos of yourself and your child enjoying playtimes!
